Our open house was held at our office at 615 Washington Avenue in Iowa Falls on November 17, 2017 fro 3:30-5:30pm. Attendance was terrific with many past customers, present customers, and many business people from the area attending. There were several highlights of the afternoon with Keith and Kay Helvig winning the weekend at Honey Creek Resort, and several other attendees winning Subway coupons. A great conversation piece was the chandelier located in the front of the office. Thanks to Randy and Connie Madden for donating the hog feeder, and to many other people that helped to get it operational and secured to the ceiling. I believe it is a one-of-a-kind chandelier and we are excited to have it. Come and take a look! Thanks to Dara Carter, and my daughter, Shawna Beaubien, for all the changes that have been made to improve the office for our customers.
The land market is staying strong in many areas of the state. It's interesting that the commodity prices are going one way and land prices are going the opposite. We sold 4 tracts in Floyd County last week that sold for prices anywhere from $4200/acre up to $7900/acre. 2 of the 4 parcels were all tillable with the other 2 parcels having some pasture and waste ground on them. There were approximately 75 people in attendance with 15 registered bidders. These farms were selling in the area of $100/CSR point plus on tillable land. Thanks to all the bidders that attended.
We have a big December coming up, with 3 auctions scheduled. December 20th we will sell 154 acres of Grundy County land east of Cleaves, Iowa, at 10:00am in Ackley, Iowa, and then 80 acres north of Union, Iowa, in Hardin County at 2:00pm in the afternoon at the Union Golf Course. On Friday, December 22, 2017, we will auction 160 acres located just east of Sheffield, Iowa, at the Franklin Convention Center at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hampton. Along with these sales of prime Iowa farmland, we have just listed 80 acres in the SW corner of Franklin County that has been pattern tiled and is priced at $7100/acre.
